(UNDATED) - The Indiana High School Athletic Association voted to allow home-schoolers play in high school sports at a meeting on Monday.
The new rule will take effect in the 2013-2014 school year.
According to the new rule, a student enrolled in a non-accredited private school or homeschool now has the opportunity to try out for a high school team under certain conditions.
Besides the standards set by the school for all athletes, the homeschool student must complete all standardized tests required of public school students, submit grade reports and enroll in a minimum of one class per day.
Additionally, the student must have been homeschooled the previous three years.
