(BROWNSTOWN) - In two years, Jackson County could be added to a growing list of Hoosier communities turning to drug courts to help break the cycle of drug addiction and keep nonviolent offenders out of jail.
That's the earliest it could be implemented, however, due to funding and the time it would take to organize the program, a local judge said.
The idea is gaining steam here thanks to the efforts of a 2013 Leadership Jackson County group and the support of Jackson Circuit Judge Rick Poynter.
