(BEDFORD) - A Virginia man was arrested after he became combative with police Thursday night.
According to the Bedford Police log, officers were called to 16th and K streets after a report of a possible intoxicated man.
When police arrived they found 26-year-old Raymond Wachman laying on a lawn on K Street, between 15th and 16th streets..
BPD Chief Dennis Parsley says Wachman had taken his pants off but was wearing shorts. He told officers that his pants became wet while he was fishing at Lake Monroe and that he had taken them off.
Police told Wachman he was under arrest for public intoxication and when police began to put Wachman in handcuffs he became combative. Officers had to wrestle him to the ground.
One officer suffered scratches to his arm and the other officers suffered a cut to his hand.
After handcuffing Wachman and as officers loaded him in the police car he again began to fight with officers.
Police then transported Wachman to the hospital for an evaluation and then he was taken to jail at 9 pm.
Wachman was charged with public intoxication, disorderly conduct, resisting arrest by force and two counts of battery.
