(OOLITIC) - Indiana Conservation Officers are investigating an injury ATV accident that occurred near Oolitic Saturday.
16-year-old Gage Forrest, of Oolitic, was injured when he lost control of the Yamaha Grizzly he was driving and it rolled down a 40 foot embankment.
Forrest sustained multiple injuries and was transported first to IU Health in Bedford, then to Riley Hospital in Indianapolis.
Officer Jim Hash says Lack of any protective gear likely contributed to the severity of injuries in the accident.
Indiana Conservation Officers strongly encourage riders to wear a helmet and other safety equipment when operating an ATV.
Oolitic Volunteer Fire Department units also responded to the scene.
