(WASHINGTON) - The powerful storm system that created a tragedy in Oklahoma may have lost some of its punch by the time it hit Daviess County but it still managed to do a lot of damage.
The storm left a mess from Maysville near the White River all the way to the far eastside of Washington.
The community is in full clean up mode.
A huge 2 -foot by 12-foot piece of wood impaled a new car on the dealership lot in Washington.
The main street area was hit taking the façade off one of the building, blowing out the wall on a storage building a couple of blocks away and sending parts of roofs into streets and parking lots.
Mayor Joe Wellman says everyone has been working together to clean up and repair the damage.
Wellman says the damage ran up Walnut Street taking down trees, knocking out power and leaving people frightened. Most of the damage was between Van Trees and South streets
Two large trees were uprooted at the city's Eastside Park leaving six-foot root balls.
That same storm system also did some damage in the Odon and the Sandborn areas.
Northern and western Bartholomew County suffered the heavy damage. A large tree fell onto a mobile home in the 3900 block of Mill Court in the Tannehill Trailer Park near Taylorsville and a tree fell on a house in the 13000 block of West County Road 50 South, south of State Road 46 near the Brown County line.
