(JOHNSON COUNTY) - A three vehicle accident on State Road 37 near Stone’s Crossing in Johnson County put one person in the hospital.
The Johnson County Sheriff's Department says shortly before 1 p.m. Friday, a semi driven by 65-year-old John C. Aikman, II of Bloomington was traveling southbound when he rear-ended a car driven by 26-year-old Jonathon Arnold of Mitchell. Arnold's vehicle was pushed in to the rear of a vehicle driven by 57-year-old Nona Myers of Martinsville.
According to witness statements, Aikman's semi was traveling at a high rate of speed when he struck Arnold's car, which was sitting in a line of stopped traffic due to construction work. Arnold, who had to be extricated from his vehicle, was transported to Methodist Hospital in Indianapolis. His condition is unknown. Aikman was cited for driving too fast to avoid a collision. A blood draw was also administered to test for alcohol and drug use.
Myers suffered minor abrasions and bleeding to her face. She was transported to an area hospital. No further information on her condition was immediately available.
