(JASONVILLE) - Two Jasonville men wound up in jail after they went up against the Jasonville Police Department in a match of hide and seek in a rail yard in the middle of the night.
The Greene County Daily World reports, Officer Ryan Van Horn was on patrol around 12:49 a.m. Saturday when he drove south of Jasonville on State Road 59 past an Indiana Railroad property that is used to store train cars.
Van Horn noticed a blue Dodge truck parked on the property, backed in, with the windows down and the lights off.
He stopped but nobody was in the vehicle. But he saw four buckets of metal parts in the bed of the truck, fresh footprints in the mud between the truck and the train cars, and a blue crate filled with metal fittings sitting next to a train car.
The officer found 30-year-old Jeffery Elkins and 38-year-old William Hiatt, who were hiding around the train cars. Both were arrested and charged with attempted theft.
