(JASPER) - A Loogootee man is facing several charges following a two vehicle accident on Jasper’s northside Saturday afternoon.
Jasper Police report 39 year old Charles Kline was southbound on Newton Street, when he came upon slowed traffic north of the 36th Street intersection.
Officers say Kline became impatient with the slow flow of traffic and began tailgating and swerving in his lane of travel. Kline then attempted to pass the vehicle in front of him, but in doing so, lost control of his 2010 Chevy Cavalier, crossed the center line and struck a northbound Ford F-150 driven by 64 year old Gary Brown of Santa Claus.
The force of impact caused Brown's truck to flip onto its top before coming to a stop.
Brown and his passenger, 60 year old Maria Brown, were taken to Memorial Hospital and Health Care Center, after complaining of pain in addition, Maria Brown complained of head pain.
Kline was not injured in the 2:01pm accident.
Both vehicles were considered total losses.
Kline was cited for driving left of center, reckless driving, unsafe lane movement, failure to obey signs and markings while driving, as well as operating a vehicle while under the influence of a controlled substance. He was arrested and taken to the Dubois County Security Center.
