(BEDFORD) - The Audra Craig family of Lawrence County, during a recent ceremony at the Indiana Statehouse, received a Hoosier Homestead Sesquicentennial Award, recognizing the Craig farm, west of Bedford, as having been in the same family since 1823.
To qualify for a Sesquicentennial Award, a farm must have been owned by the same family for at least 150 years.
The Hoosier Homestead program was instituted in 1976 and recognizes the contributions these family farms have made to the economic, cultural and social advancements of Indiana.
In the past 30 years, more than 5,000 farms have received the honor.
