(BLOOMFIELD) - The Bloomfield Town Council voted to promote Jeremy Inman from Deputy Town Marshal to Lt. Marshal at the special session on Monday.
Town Marshal Kenneth Tharp requested the move.
The lieutenant position was left vacant following the transfer of Harvey Holt to the Greene County Sheriff's Department.
In other business, the council voted to purchase a Ford Interceptor to replace a police vehicle that was recently involved in an accident, contingent upon the receipt of money from the insurance agency.
Deputy Anthony Bower was traveling on State Road 54, just east of Bloomfield when he got too close to the shoulder of the road and it sucked him into the ditch on June 7.
Tharp said the insurance agency told him they would "total out" the car for approximately $23,000.
Tharp said the insurance claim also covers equipment, and they would need to purchase a front light bar, a laptop and the console, which were all damaged in the accident.
