(BLOOMINGTON) - A crash Tuesday morning sent two Bloomington men to the hospital and left traffic stalled.
According to Indiana State Police Troopers Ryan Miller and Mark Clephane, 73-year-old Robert Knapp, of Bloomington, was traveing east on State Road 46 in a 1999 Ford truck and approaching Smith Pike when he disregarded a red light and crashed into a 199 Ford van driven by 69-year-old Larry Rogers, of Bloomington.
Both Knapp and Rogers were taken to IU Health Hospital in Bloomington. Both men complained of pain at the scene.
Trooper Miller indicated the property damage to both vehicles rendered them "totaled".
According to the police report, both drivers were wearing their seat belts at the time of the crash and as a result prevented or reduced the nature of the injuries that Knapp and Rogers suffered.
Assisting at the scene were officers from the Ellettsville Police Department and first responders from Ellettsville Fire Department along with the IU Health Bloomington EMS personnel.
