(BLOOMINGTON) - A 15-year-old Bloomington girl and her 21-year-old boyfriend were arrested after her mother noticed she had several cartons of cigarettes and called her probation officer, who then called police.
According to Bloomington Police Sgt. Ian Lovan, the girl and her boyfriend Christopher Marrero are accused of breaking into the John's Food Mart on South Rogers Street on Friday morning.
The couple stole cigarettes, snacks and soda and ransacked the store.
According to a police report, the two broke a front window and entered the business. The two were caught on the store's surveillance video.
When police interviewed the teen, she denied breaking into the store, but later admitted to the crime.
Marrero denied the allegations and requested an attorney.
Marrero and the girl were arrested and charged with burglary, theft and larceny.
Marrero was taken to jail and the girl was taken to a juvenile detention facility.
