(MEDORA) - Greg Barnett is about to reunite with some of his former players.
The Medora Community Schools trustees approved the hiring of Barnett as the varsity girls basketball coach for the 2013-14 school year. He coached several of those girls when they were in junior high.
"The group I had in junior high, it was a tight little core group. They were pretty successful," Barnett, 41, said Monday night. "I think if they get back together and get back to the gym and we get them going, I think we can actually have a pretty successful season."
Medora High School Principal Brad McCammon coached the Hornets for the past 10 years, but he is taking a one-year sabbatical. Medora Superintendent Tom Judd said during Monday's meeting that Barnett will coach this school year, and McCammon will coach the following two years before Barnett comes back for the 2016-17 school year.
