(UNDATED) - By 3 PM on Thursday the Indiana Department of Transportation said State Road 450 from U.S. Route 150 in Shoals to State Road 37 in Bedford was closed because of high water levels from flash floods in the Vincennes District.
Earlier, U.S. Route 150 from State Road 56 (Prospect) to State Road 37 (Paoli) was closed, but had recently been reopened.
When April Jones arrived at her home Wednesday afternoon in Springville after staying in Tennessee a few days, a tree falling on her car was one of the last things she expected to happen an hour later.
"It happened so fast," said Mary Jones, April's mother, of the midday storm. "We were in the dining room. We heard the roaring. I said, 'Get to the basement.' We were there just in time."
"As soon as I got up the stairs, I saw the car spiraling," April said. "I won't be able to drive it again because the front's bashed in." Nobody in the Jones' household in the 4200 block of State Road 54 West was injured.
Another daughter was visiting at the same time with her children.
"We're just thankful no one was hurt," Mary said.
April was busy hustling from the car to the house carrying personal items and relocating them so they didn't suffer additional damage from the storm. The same tree also hit Tom Jones' pickup truck. It had a cracked side mirror, but appeared to have no damage, though it was buried under the tree, and no one could get to it.
Currently Duke Energy is reporting that all local power has been restored.
