(LINTON) - A driver allegedly speeding along a Linton side street in the middle of the night, next went through barricades but ended up in jail.
Anna Rochelle of the Greene County Daily World reports that Russell Lee Alsman, 26, of Linton, was booked in on preliminary charges of operating a vehicle while intoxicated.
Patrolman Thomas A. Jerrels of the Linton Police Department reported seeing a brown and tan 1990 Dodge Dakota pickup truck traveling westbound on NE B Street at a high rate of speed at approximately 1:39 a.m. Wednesday.
The truck sped through the intersection of NE 3rd St. Then the officer was able to catch up at NE 1st and B streets when the vehicle attempted to proceed through barricades east of North Main on NE B St.
A stop was made and according to the police report, officers determined the driver, Alsman, was intoxicated.
Alsman was taken into custody and transported to the Greene County Jail where his bond was set at $9,000 surety or ten percent cash.
A criminal case was filed in Greene Superior Court against Alsman the next day.
When he appears for an initial hearing scheduled on Monday, Alsman will be charged with: Operating a vehicle while intoxicated, endangering a person, a class A misdemeanor; operating a vehicle while intoxicated with a prior conviction, a class D felony; operating a vehicle while intoxicated, a class C misdemeanor; operating a vehicle while intoxicated with a prior conviction, a class D felony; operating a vehicle with an alcohol concentration equivalent to .15 or more, a class C misdemeanor; and operating a vehicle with an alcohol concentration equivalent to .15 or more with a passenger less than 18 years of age/or with a prior conviction, a class D felony.
Officer Jerrels, the arresting officer, was assisted on the scene by LPD Patrolman Jason Wilson.
