(BLOOMFIELD) - 36-year-old Benjamin Lewis Edwards, of Bloomfield, was arrested by Greene County Sheriff’s Deputy Jeff Brown early Thursday after deputies responded to a report of a physical altercation at a home Wednesday night.
Edwards is accused of battery and strangulation. He allegedly put another man in a choke hold and caused him to lose his breath and gasp for air.
According to the police report, Edwards had an earlier argument over the telephone with his uncle, Mike Murphy of Anderson.
Their disagreement was over motorcycle repairs and police say Edwards hung up on Murphy.
Then Edwards went to at home on Line Road were Murphy was visiting grabbed his uncle from behind, putting him in a choke hold causing him to gasp for breath. That is when the homeowner broke up the confrontation. Edwards was asked to leave.
Police spoke to Edwards at a home on East Sylvania road and Edwards admitted to the fight, but said it was not big deal, but he was going to kill his uncle for calling police.
Edwards was arrested Thursday and charged with felony strangulation and battery.
