(SEYMOUR) - A Norman man was arrested early Friday morning after he fled from police.
27-year-old Matthew Mitchell was charged on resisting law enforcement and driving while his driver's license was suspended with a prior conviction.
According to Jackson County Officer Rick Meyer, he stopped Mitchell for a traffic violation at 10th and Elm streets in Seymour. But Mitchell allegedly sped away in a 2002 Nissan and went to the 500 block of 10th Street where he pulled the vehicle into a driveway and then to the backyard.
He then exited the car and ran on foot from police. Police learned Mitchell knew the people at the home and police set up surveillance. When Mitchell returned a short time later he was arrested.
Meyer was assisted by Seymour officers Jeremy Soliday, Ian McPherson, Mike Cooper, Adam Surface and Jacob Florine.
