(OOLITIC) - The town of Oolitic is gearing up for their festival but they still need parade entries and your help raising funds.
The festival will Saturday, June 15 Main Street beginning at 10 a.m. The parade will kick off at 2 p.m. with fireworks at dusk.
Parade entries will set up in front of the Kiwanas and in front of the Dollar General Store with floats lining up at noon.
Those wanting to participate in the parade can find entry forms at Oolitic Town Hall or by calling Sue Holmes at (812) 854-2243 or by visiting the Oolitic Festival Parade site on Facebook. Entries are due by Wednesday June 12.
There will be prizes for the best entry and best automobile. Judging will be done by Susan Inman and Lisa McInosh.
The midway will be filled with rides provided by Vertical Entertainment and there will be bouncy houses too.
Super Oldies 105.5 WQRK and Z102 102.5 WPHZ will be broadcasting live at the festival. DJs Steven Gillespie and the Big Guy Johnny Henderson (Super Oldies) along with Jason Thompson and Jeremy Fulk (Z102) will be set up as two separate locations.
The festival committee says putting on a great festival takes money. The funds are used to cover the cost of the fireworks, rides and insurance. The group needs to raise $10,000. Last year Oolitic was not able to have the festival because of lack of volunteers and funds. Anyone wanting to make a donation can do so by contacting Holmes or by stopping by Town Hall.
The radio stations would like to thank these local sponsors: Hoosier Door; Mitchell First Church of God; Stonebridge Health Campus; Novus Strength Training; Weather Masters; Roots RV & Sales; Red Rock Wild West Town; Frieda's Pools; Salt Creek All Outdoor Flea Market; Eads Sales & Service.
