(ORANGE COUNTY) - The travel season is in full swing.
Everyone is making plans to head somewhere fun and exciting to create lasting memories for their family. The communities of Orleans, Paoli, French Lick, West Baden and Patoka Lake offer experiences that will be remembered for years to come.
Visit French Lick West Baden, the Orange County Convention and Visitors Bureau (CVB) markets the destination year-round creating awareness and promoting Orange County as a one-of-a-kind vacation spot rich in history and experiences.
For the third season a satellite visitor center is open in Orleans, the "Front Porch of Orange County", to greet visitors as they enter the county or visit one of the many events happening on the Historic Congress Square.
The Visitor Center is operated through a joint agreement between Visit French Lick West Baden and the Orleans Chamber of Commerce.
Orleans Chamber of Commerce Executive Director, Robert Henderson said "Our local chamber is very excited about the positive impact we have already seen through this partnership with the CVB and look forward to working together for many more years to better promote Orange County as a whole."
"We simply felt it was a perfect fit given the large variety of special events hosted annually in Orleans. The chamber office and welcome center is ideally located and visible right on the historic town square making it a natural choice for the satellite site." Henderson stated.
The center is equipped, through the partnership with the CVB, with a large array of print information on area lodging and attractions as well as free internet accessibility for those wanting to inquire directly about lodging reservations or other visitor related services.
"Once visitors reach the area, it is very important to have knowledgeable people available to answer questions, give directions and recommendations that our guests might need" stated Visit French Lick West Baden Executive Director, Misty Weisensteiner. "The more outlets of information throughout the county the better we, staff and residents, can educate travelers on the vast array of accommodations, attractions and points of interest, in turn prompting the guest to return visit after visit."
In addition to the Orleans Visitor Center, which is open on weekends May through October and during special events held at Historic Congress Square, the CVB also operates a full service, year-round Visitor Center in French Lick. There are also numerous stanchions throughout the county that hold the destinations Visitor and Event Guides.
