(BEDFORD) - Lindsey Endris has been fired.
The North Lawrence Community School Board has voted Thursday night to fire 26-year-old Lindsey Endris.
Endris, a first-grade teacher at Parkview Primary School, was arrested Tuesday by Bedford Police officers after a Lawrence County officer stopped her for a traffic violation. The Bedford Police Department responded after hearing about the stop because they had received information that Endris may be involved in drug activites.
"I am implementing the procedures to seek termination," North Lawrence Assistant Superintendent Gary Conner said Thursday night.
The North Lawrence School Board, during a regularly scheduled meeting, voted 7-0 to accept a recommendation by Conner that Endris be placed on administrative leave, which Conner described as "necessary to activate the procedural steps toward termination of employment."
Endris is also charged with possession of heroin with the intent to deal, possession of methamphetamine, two counts of possessing a Schedule IV controlled substance and trafficking with an inmate.
She was charged with trafficking with an inmate, after the jail matron found more drugs in Endris' underwear when she was searched and changing into a jail uniform.
