(CAMPBELLSBURG) - The National FFA and Deer Country Equipment recently awarded a $2,000 scholarship to Kurtis Fisher of West Washington High School.
This scholarship is from Deer Country Equipment and John Deere Co, through a special project of the National FFA Foundation. Fisher plans to use the funds to pursue a degree at Ivy Tech State College.
"We are thrilled to be awarding a scholarship of this size to a local FFA member," said Beth Smith, Deer Country Equipment. "We are committed to providing educational opportunities for the next generation of leaders in the agriculture community."
This scholarship is one of 1,645 awarded through the National FFA Organization's scholarship program this year. Currently, 127 sponsors contribute more than $2.1 million to support scholarships for students.
The 2013 scholarship recipients were selected from 6,116 applicants from across the country. Selections were based on the applicant's leadership, academic record, FFA and other school and community activities, supervised agricultural or work experience in agricultural education and future goals.
