(BEDFORD) - A Bedford man was arrested after officers responded to a 911 hangup call.
30-year-old Clinton Briggs, was charged with battery in the presence of a minor, battery on a police officer, resisting arrest, disorderly conduct, possession of marijuana under 30 grams, possession of marijuana under 30 grams with the intent to deal, possession of drug paraphernalia, neglect of a dependent and cultivating marijuana.
According to Chief Dennis Parsley the department received a 911 call from the 800 block of P Street Sunday afternoon and then the caller hung up.
When officers arrived they found a woman coming out of the home.
"She claimed she had been beaten by the male who was still inside the home," Parsley says. "When officers went inside they found the male holding an infant."
As police were talking to Briggs they noticed marijuana in plain sight.
As police were attempting to arrest Briggs he put the infant down and began to struggle with police and being loud.
"He kicked one officer two or three times," Parsley says. "Narcotics officers were called to the scene to investigate and found additional marijuana and equipment used in the cultivation of marijuana. They also found methodone which lead to the possession of a Schedule II controlled substance charge."
