(BEDFORD) - Passenger Braxten G. Prather, 7, suffered minor bleeding to his head after a vehicle driven by Mary B. Brown hydroplaned off a curve on Heltonville Road Friday.
Brown, 52, was driving east on Heltonville Road when it started raining at 4:41 p.m., according to a Bedford Police Department accident report. "Brown said that she thought she had slowed down enough for the curve, but began to hydroplane and left the roadway".
Brown's 2005 Dodge Caravan struck a utility pole and a church sign, police said. "(The vehicle) then continued off road striking the embankment and traveling through a yard," according to police. "(It) continued through several small trees and came to a stop in the yard ... The juvenile passenger ... was cut by flying glass in the vehicle."
Prather was treated at the scene, according to the police report.
