(BEDFORD) - The Bedford Fire Department was called to a vehicle fire in the 300 block of 18th Street early this morning.
According to Bedford Fire Chief Jon Wagner, firefighters were alerted to the blaze at 2:39 a.m.
"When they arrived the car, an older Cadillac was engulfed in flames," Wagner says. "The owners attempted to put the fire out by throwing flour on it, but it got away from them."
Wagner says the homeowners returned home and the vehicle backfired after they pulled into the driveway and shut the vehicle off.
"The next thing they knew the car as on fire," Wagner says. "The vehicle was destroyed."
