(HARRODSBURG) - A Free Trail Safety Seminar for woman and girls will be held on Saturday, July 13th from 11 a.m. till Noon. The event is sponsored by Guardian Martial Arts Studio.
For security reasons the exact location will be provided to those who register to participate.
The seminar is free, but class size is limited.
The seminar will be led by Gary Johnson and his wife, Liane. Gary Johnson has been with the Monroe County Sheriff's Department for the past 22 years, as Deputy Sheriff (2003 Officer of the Year) and has also served as Monroe County K-9 officer, Detective, Firearms instructor, Defensive tactics instructor for all incoming jail officers, and as a civil process server. Gary also has 30 years of martial arts experience, and currently holds a 5th degree Black Belt in Tae Kwon Do and a 2nd degree Black Belt in Hapkido. Master Johnson is owner/operator of Guardian Martial Arts Studio.
The purpose of the seminar is to increase safety awareness for women and girls who plan to utilize one of Bloomington's most popular recreation attractions, the B-Line/Clear Creek/Rails To Trails areas. Johnson and his wife will provide safety information and knowledge that can be useful in everyday situations, on and off the trails.
This event is open to women and girls 16-and older. Girls under 16-years-old must be accompanied by an adult female. Participants will walk approximately a half a mile section of trail so dress appropriately.
The seminar should last an hour.
Free bottled water and trail snack bars will be provided. Each participant will be contacted via email with the group's exact meeting location.
In the event of inclement weather, registrants will be notified and a rain date will be given.
