(CRANE) - One day a week furloughs are scheduled to start today for thousands of civilian employees at the Crane Naval Surface Warfare Center in southern Indiana.
The furloughs are the result of automatic federal budget cuts and will continue through September.
The base's nearly 3,100 Navy employees and 800 Army workers will see a 20% pay cut during that time.
