(MARTINSVILLE) - Indiana Conservation Officers are investigating the apparent drowning death of 29-year-old Adam Fuller, of Greenwood.
Fuller had been kayaking with a friend on White River, north of Martinsville, just downstream from the IPL dam.
According to Conservation Officer Lance LaBonte, while Fuller was kayaking he flipped and lost some of his fishing gear in the river. He then beached the kayak and began wading out into the river, trying to retrieve his fishing equipment when he was swept under by the current.
LaBonte says, Fuller was wearing a life jacket; however the undertow was so strong that it did not allow him to surface.
Officers were alerted at 7:15 p.m. and Fuller was pulled from the river by Conservation officer who were in an airboat around 10 p.m.
The official cause of death will be determined after an autopsy today.
Assisting in recovering Fuller from the river were Harrison Township, Brooklyn, Gregg Township, Paragon and Brown Township Volunteer Fire Departments and the Morgan County Coroner's Office.
