(UNDATED) - The National Weather Service has issued a heat advisory for Lawrence County and the surrounding area.
Hot and humid weather will remain in the area this week.
According to officials a strong upper ridge will build across the Ohio Valley today and and remain across the region throughout the work week.
A hot and humid air mass will settle across centeral Indiana with high temperatures in the lower 90s expected through Friday.
These temperatures combined with high relative humidites will produce head indices in the upper 90s today and lower 100s Tuesday through Friday.
Those with outdoor activities this week are encouraged to wear lightweight, light colored clothing and take frequent breaks and drink plenty of fluids.
