(MITCHELL) - The goal is to create a youth center in Mitchell.
There are no definite plans, but there are plenty of Mitchell residents with idea, according to Teresa Reynolds, one person spearheading the project.
A Facebook page has been dedicated to the cause -"Mitchell youth center" and letters have been sent out to residents about a public forum to discuss the proposal. The forum will be held August 1 at 7 p.m. at the Mitchell Community Building on Tom Green Drive.
The group -- Reynolds, Toya Lamm, Diane Cooper, Anna Thompson, Elizabeth Suarez and Brea Hawkins -- are heading up the project.
They visited French Lick, which began its own youth center.
Reynolds says it was all done through donations. also of Mitchell.
The forum is strictly to seek input and volunteers.
Forms will be distributed during the event to corral volunteers and the available talents.
The ladies hope the community will take over, form a diverse advisory committee and move forward with the idea, if that's what volunteers want to do.
