(INDIANAPOLIS) - A funeral director says Bob Carter, who portrayed ghoulish Indianapolis late night television movie host Sammy Terry, has died.
He was 83.
Paul Burton of Singleton Mortuary says Carter died Sunday at an Indianapolis nursing home. He did not disclose the cause of death.
Burton says a public viewing of Carter is planned for 4-8 p.m. Friday at the mortuary. A private burial is planned for Saturday.
Sammy Terry began each episode of "Nightmare Theater" on WTTV-TV by climbing out of a coffin with a trademark fiendish chuckle and wearing a cape, a skullcap and heavy makeup. His sidekick was a toy spider named George. The program aired from 1962 to 1989.
Carter also owned and operated an Indianapolis music store.
