(UNDATED) - State police say Indiana residents with grandchildren should be wary of an old telephone scam that has resurfaced.
Police say one couple recently received a call from a woman who identified herself as their granddaughter and claimed to need bail money to get out of a jail in Canada.
The couple wired her $2,000, and the woman called again asking for more cash.
They then learned their real granddaughter was at home.
Police say anyone who receives such a call should write down the phone number if they have caller ID, ask questions only their real grandchild could answer, and call their child. Don't wire any money.
