(BLOOMINGTON) - A Bloomington man told police he was attacked Saturday morning near the IU campus.
According to IU Interim Police Chief Laury Flint, the 23-year-old man, who is a student at IU, was knocked unconscious during the robbery and his wallet and cell phone was stolen.
The Herald Times reports that he woke up on the sidewalk in the area of Second Street and Jordan Avenue and then walked to a nearby convenience store for help.
Flint says the attack happened between 1:30 a.m. and 7 a.m. Saturday morning.
The man suffered cuts to his hands and knees and bruises to his face and head. He was treated and released at IU Health Bloomington Hospital.
An IU Notify alert was sent to the campus community about the reported assault and robbery.
The alert also advised people to be aware of their surroundings and to stay in groups if they are out walking at night. Anyone with information can contact IU police at 812-855-4111.
