(VALLONIA) - Police continue to investigate an incident in which a rural Jackson County man reportedly shot himself in the foot Sunday morning.
According to the Jackson County Sheriff Department, 23-year-old Jeffrey W. Fleetwood, of Vallonia, was preparing to take his .308 hunting rifle outside.
He rested the rifle's muzzle on his foot to free his hands and it started to fall over. When Fleetwood tried to catch the rifle, he fired it and the bullet hit his foot.
Fleetwood was taken by a friend to Schneck Medical Center in Seymour for treatment.
