(BLOOMINGTON) - Police had their hands full after confronting a man on drugs.
Bloomington Police Sgt. Joe Crider says, officers found the man, had him sit down and asked him why he was naked. The man was disoriented and did not understand the officers' questions. The man then stood up and went inside a home, then a short time later ran to a 1993 Cadillac.
Crider says police tried to stop the man from getting in the car, but couldn't and the man drove away, almost hitting an officer.
Police followed the car north on Monroe Street, where the car crashed into a tree at the intersection of Monroe and 17th streets.
The man suffered a possible broken leg near the ankle. He was taken to IU Health Bloomington Hospital where he is listed in fair condition.
Crider says the man is facing charges of operating while intoxicated, creating endangerment, resisting law enforcement with a vehicle and criminal recklessness.
