(BEDFORD) - Two people were arrested and another cited after police were called to Wal-Mart Saturday.
According to Bedford Police Chief Dennis Parsley officers were called to the store because of a possible shoplifter.
When they arrived they found 39-year-old Martin Bruhy, of Bedford, and 18-year-old Casey Roberts, along with 41-year-old Jamie Byrd, both of Williams.
Officers told the individuals they had to leave the store, but they had to find a ride because all three had suspended driver's license. But the three didn't heed police warnings.
"Officers observed a vehicle driven by Jamie Byrd and stopped the vehicle," Parsley says. "Byrd was giving a traffic ticket for driving with a suspended driver's license and for false or fictitious registration."
Officer then attempted to have the passengers, Bruhy and Roberts get out of the vehicle so it could be towed.
"That's when Roberts became belligerent and resisted officers," Parsley says.
Bruhy also refused to get out of the car and officers had to forcibly remove him from the vehicle. That is when they found Bruhy had a handgun in his waistband.
Officers also found pipes used to smoke drugs along with other drug paraphernalia in Martin's pockets. He also had pills and a crystal substance. Parsley says both items tested positive for meth.
Inside the vehicle police found items used to make meth and items that Roberts had stolen from Wal-Mart.
Martin Bruhy was charged with possession of more than 3 grams of methamphetamine, possession of methamphetamine with intent to deal, possession of more than 3 grams of methamphetamine with a firearm, possession of a Schedule II controlled substance, disorderly conduct, resisting arrest by force and maintaining a common nuisance.
Roberts, has been charged with disorderly conduct, theft, resisting arrest by force and visiting a common nuisance.
