(SALEM) - A 4-year-old Salem boy was hospitalized after an ATV accident in Washington County.
Indiana Conservation Officers are investigating an ATV accident that occurred on private property near Salem Thursday night.
At approximately 3:30 p.m. Saturday, officers were called to the Harrison County Hospital, where Clayton Tincher was being treated for his injuries which included a broken nose.
According to Officer Bo Spainhour, Tincher was driving a youth model ATV when he lost control of the vehicle and hit a tree and was thrown from the vehicle.
Tincher's stepfather was supervising the boy at the time of the accident and quickly provided the boy with first aid.
Tincher was not wearing a helmet or any safety equipment at the time of the incident.
Indiana Conservation Officers strongly encourage riders to always wear a the necessary safety equipment when operating an ATV.
