(BLOOMFIELD) - The Bloomfield Community Farmer’s Market is switching to Friday nights, starting August 16.
Nick Schneider of the Greene County Daily World reports that the Bloomfield Town Council approved a request to change from the regular Saturday morning farmer's market hours from 8 a.m.-noon to Friday evenings from 5 p.m. to 8 p.m.
Chamber representative Josh Riggins told the council that a Friday night farmer's market conducted in July proved very successful and a decision has been made to move the market to a Friday night setting for the rest of the season.
The council agreed to Riggins' request to have Franklin Street on the west side of the courthouse square blocked off from traffic for the farmer's market vendor booths where they will sell a variety of fresh produce and other items.
Riggins said the change in day will be effective through the end of September.
After that, he said Chamber members will assess the success of the Friday night venue and make a decision whether to host it on Fridays next year.
Any vendors interested in participating in the Community Farmers Market can contact Riggins at jgr@farmersandmechanicsfederal.com or (812) 384-4473.
