(MITCHELL) - Indiana Conservation officers arrested 40-year-old Mark Hackney, of Mitchell, after they recovered a stolen truck and several other items stolen from Spring Mill Park.
According to a conservation officer, multiple thefts were reported Tuesday and early Wednesday from multiple campers and vehicles in the park.
A 2006 Black Dodge dulley crew cab with blue and purple graphic was taken from a campsite Monday night. The stolen vehicle was recovered early Tuesday near the park.
Working off information gathered from several locations and obtained through other local law enforcement agencies, conservation officers were able to track down Hackney and the stolen items at a home south of Mitchell.
While at the home two males ran into a corn field adjacent to the home. Hackney was apprehended. A K-9 was brought to the scene but was unable to locate the second person.
Hackney was booked into the Orange County Jail on two outstanding warrants for burglary and receiving stolen property.
According to Conservation Officer Jim Hash, officers recovered numerous items related to the thefts, including the Dodge truck, tools, personal items and jewelry.
The investigation is ongoing.
Also assisting on scene were Indiana State Police, Orange County Sheriff's Department, Orleans Police Department and Orange County EMS.
