(BLOOMINGTON) - The president of this fall’s Indiana University Dance Marathon knows her way around the event.
Katie Speer will be taking part in her eighth Dance Marathon following four years as a Bloomington South High School student and now four years as an IU student.
She's heading up some 900 people organizing the annual fundraiser for the Ryan White Infectious Disease Center and the Ryan White Infectious Disease Research Center at Riley Hospital for Children.
The Herald-Times reports the Dance Marathon is going into its 23rd year and Speer hopes to see it top last year's record of more than $2.1 million raised.
The dance will be held on November 15 beginning at 8 p.m. until November 17 at 8 a.m. at the IU Tennis Center.
About 1,700 people did an 18-hour shift of dancing last year, and 300 tackled 36 straight hours with only short breaks.
