(EASTERN HEIGHTS) - Eastern Greene High School has a new boy’s basketball coach, following the unexpected resignation of Levi Carmichael.
Carmichael resigned to take the assistant coaching job at Bloomington North High School. Earlier, his wife Amanda resigned from Eastern earlier to take over as head coach of the Bloomington North girl's basketball program.
The Greene County Daily World reports that the Eastern Greene Board of School Trustees unanimously approved the hiring of Jon Neill as the new coach.
The new coach was given a two-year contract.
Neill is a 2006 Bloomfield Junior-Senior High School graduate who went on to play four years of ball at Franklin College and graduated in 2008.
Neill, the son of Garry and Kathy Neill of Bloomfield, then served as an assistant coach under another Bloomfield High graduate -- Josh Thompson -- during his tenure at Springs Valley High School in French Lick.
This past season, Neill served as an assistant coach under Carmichael.
