(MITCHELL) - A second man has been arrested in connection of numerous thefts from Spring Mill State Park. The thefts were from multiple campers and vehicles in the park.
On Monday Conservation officers arrested 58-year-old William Hackney, of Orleans. He was charged with receiving stolen property, receiving stolen auto parts and resisting law enforcements. He is also facing drug charges after he was observed smoking marijuana just before his arrest.
Last week Conservation officers arrested 40-year-old Mark Hackney after they recovered a stolen Dodge Dulley and several other items that had been stolen from the park. Officers tracked Mark Hackney to a home south of Mitchell.
While at the home Mark Hackney and another man ran into a corn field adjacent to the home. Hackney was apprehended. A K-9 was brought to the scene but was unable to locate the second person. Hackney was arrested on two outstanding warrants for burglary and receiving stolen property.
Conservation Officer Jim Hash says officers recovered numerous items related to the thefts, including the Dodge truck, tools, personal items and jewelry.
