(COLUMBUS) - The Jackson County Health Department says one case of swine flu has been reported in the county.
Lin Montgomery, with the health department, told the Seymour Tribune a 3-year-old child is suspected of contracting the flu during a visit earlier this month at the Bartholomew County Fair in Columbus.
Montgomery says that conclusion is based on the four-day incubation period of the influenza A H3N2 variant virus, also known as swine flu, and when the child visited the fairgrounds.
She says the child, however, is part of a farm family that raises hogs and showed pigs at the Bartholomew County Fair.
