(BEDFORD) - 17-year-old Douglas Holbrook has been waved into adult court.
He was taken from the Jackson County Juvenile Detention Center Monday and brought to the Lawrence County Jail.
According to a probable cause affidavit, Holbrook is accused of burglary and theft.
Oolitic Deputy Marshal Bill Allen arrested Holbrook on July 15 when he discovered Holbrook had broke into a the home of a 92-year-old woman while she slept.
Allen says the teen stole several items from the home.
According to a probable cause affidavit filed in Lawrence Superior Court II, the elderly woman woke up at 6 a.m. and noticed her bathroom window was open. She looked around and then noticed that the drawers in her kitchen, her spare bedroom and the master bedroom were all open.
She also noticed her purse had been moved from her bedroom to the kitchen table and that $25 was missing.
The woman told Allen that a couple days before the burglary she had let a young man into her house to use the bathroom.
Allen was quickly able to determine that the young man she let into her house was Holbrook.
Allen then met with Holbrook and his sister and that is when Holbrook admitted he had entered the the woman's home through an unlocked bathroom window and took the money from her purse.
If found guilty, Holbrook could face six to 20 years in prison and $10,000 in fines.
Holbrook was arrested a year ago after breaking into 17 vehicles in Oolitic.
