(BEDFORD) - Two people were arrested on meth charges Tuesday morning.

According to Bedford Police Chief Dennis Parsley officers were notified about a possible intoxicated driver in a silver Pontiac Sunfire traveling toward Bedford from Oolitic on Oolitic Road.

Police stopped the vehicle at Dairy Land.

They stopped 38-year-old Melissa Fletcher and her passenger 37-year-old James King.

King was wanted on a Lawrence County warrant for failure to appear.

"Officers arrested Mr. King and during a pat down officers found a container of meth in his pocket," Parsley says. "Officers then questioned Miss Fletcher and discovered there was more meth in the car."

That is when she was placed under arrest.

King was arrested on the warrant for failure to appear, possession of meth over 30 grams with the intent to deal, public intoxication on a controlled substance and possession of drug paraphernalia.

Fletcher was charged with operating a vehicle while intoxicated on a controlled substance and possession of meth over 30 grams with the intent to deal.
