(BEDFORD) - Two Kentucky men were arrested Wednesday afternoon on drug charges after officers found them in a room at the Comfort Inn.
55-year-old Billy Durham, of Stanford, and his brother 53-year-old Delbert Durham were charged with possession of a schedule II and schedule IV controlled substances, possession of drug paraphernalia, possession of marijuana and maintaining a common nuisance.
Billy was also wanted on a Boone County warrant for forged instrument and possession of a forged instrument.
According to Bedford Police Chief Dennis Parsley officers noticed a vehicle with a Kentucky license plate near CVS Pharmacy and said the brothers were acting odd. The officer ran the license plate and everything came back ok.
Later, officers were called to Walmart on an unrelated matter and an employee was concerned about another vehicle in the lot, which belong to the Durham's.
They also discovered the brothers had purchased ephedrine. Officers looked at the store's ephedrine logs and discovered the brothers had made numerous purchases of the drug over the last three months. The drug is used in the making of meth.
Officers then discovered the vehicle at the Comfort Inn, but no one was in it. Later, the vehicle spotted and officers conducted a traffic stop and had a K-9 walk around the vehicle, but the dog did not alert officers about any possible drugs and no arrests were made.
Officers then went to the motel and found the men in their rooms. While there police discovered Billy was wanted on a warrant and noticed marijuana. Police obtained a search warrant and then discovered several medications that the men did not have prescriptions for.
