(HELTONVILLE) - A 1-year-old boy was bit in the face by his great grandmother’s Boston terrier Monday afternoon.
According to Lawrence County Sheriff Sam Craig the incident that happened at a home on Hickory Grove Road is still under investigation but no charges will likely be filed because the dog was a family pet.
"Our animal control officer is at the scene this morning conducting interviews," Craig says.
Police received a 911 call reporting the incident at 5:45 p.m. requesting an ambulance because of the severity of the bite.
Pleasant Run Volunteer Fire Department first responders and an IU Health Hospital ambulance crew responded.
No other information on the child's condition was available this morning. This story will be updated when more information becomes available.
