(BROWNSTOWN) - Brownstown residents evacuated because of a natural gas leak near the county courthouse Sunday morning were allowed to return to their homes at 12:10 p.m.
That's when Midwest Gas Co. gave the all-clear signal, Duane Davis of the Jackson County Emergency Management Agency said.
The 3-inch feeder line was repaired by 1 p.m., which allowed Midwest employees to start a door-to-door process of reigniting customers' pilot lights, Davis said.
No one was hurt as a result of the leak, which was reported to Brownstown Police Department at 6:20 a.m.
