(SALEM) - A Cobblestone Hotel will be built in Salem.
The city council gave preliminary approval to establish an Economic Development Target Area that includes the site of the new hotel in the 1000 block of East Hackberry Street.
The Leader Democrat reports that the hotel will cost about $2 million dollars and is being financed by local investors. They expect to employ 10 to 12 people. The two-story hotel will feature a breakfast area, wine and beer bar, fitness room, small meeting room and indoor pool. It is expected to open next spring.
The next step in establishing the EDA area is a public hearing, which will take place next month. The city council will then give formal approval to the resolution at their meeting at 7:30 Oct. 14.
Cobblestone Hotels is based in Neenah, Wisc. and has 25 hotels in the Midwest. This will be the first Cobblestone Hotel in Indiana.
