(BEDFORD) - Lawrence County’s chapter of South Central Association for the Visually Impaired will host Dining in the Dark at 5:30 p.m. October 15 at the First Baptist Church on 20th Street.
Tickets are $12 and on sale at the Bedford Chamber of Commerce and Southern Indiana Independent Living on West Main Street in Mitchell.
An important part of the group's mission is to make the community aware of what it is like to perform an everyday task with vision loss - Diners will eat blind folded.
Those that attend the event will gain a better understanding of the challenges a person who has no vision or limited vision faces every day.
The funds raised will assist people with visual impairments in the community through the group's Opportunity Grant. The grant is available to those who are legally blind to get financial assistance to purchase adaptive equipment, devices or tools to help them be more independent.
There will also be a silent auction.
Former Mayor John Williams will address the group and Rev. Kregg Burris, pastor at the church will give the invocation.
Door prizes will also be awarded at the end of the evening.
Working as servers along with our SCAVI members will be members of Bedford Noon Lions and Bedford Lions.
