(BLOOMINGTON) - In recognition of national Adopt-A-Dog Month, the Bloomington Animal Shelter is promoting dog adoptions with a fall theme and special giveaways.
Dog adoption fees are reduced to $40 for the entire month of October. All dogs are vaccinated, microchipped, heartworm tested and spayed or neutered. Normal adoption fees are $75 for dogs younger than 5 years and $55 for those 5 years and older.
All dog adopters will also be entered into a drawing for one of several gift baskets that include toys, treats and gift certificates for free obedience classes from Mad4MyDog Training LLC and Applied Canine Behaviors LLC.
The Shelter will also kick off its participation with the Hoosier Lottery Lucky Dog Scratch-Off program. This promotion encourages Hoosiers to "scratch a lucky dog" and hopes to bring awareness to animal adoption opportunities and the importance of spay and neuter programs in communities across Indiana. More information is available at https://www.hoosierlottery.com/games/lucky-dog including information about adopting shelter animals and information on how to donate winning and unscratched tickets to benefit the Shelter.
Adoptable animals can be visited at the City of Bloomington Animal Shelter, 3410 S. Walnut, on Mondays, Wednesday, Thursdays and Saturdays from noon to 5 p.m., Tuesdays and Fridays from noon to 7 p.m. and Sundays 1 to 4 p.m.
Adoptable animals also can be seen on the Shelter website at www.bloomington.in.gov/animalshelter and on the Shelter's Facebook page at www.facebook.com/COBAnimalShelter.
